Tolman has been praised for her performance as the part of Minnesota police officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair declared that Tolman was "calmly certainly stole the entire show". Tolman received a Critics' Choice Television Award for her performance in the category Best Supporting Actress in movies/ministries.
